About this tire
This is the Vredestein V61 in 16x6.50-8, also marked 170/60-8, rated 6-ply (load range C). It's a 5-rib tire built for hay tedders, small tractors, lawn mowers, and other power equipment that rolls straight and needs to track clean. The open rib tread sheds dirt and grass instead of packing it, so the tire keeps its grip across a field.
The carcass is strong nylon, and the tread rings add a layer of protection against thorns and stones working their way into the casing. That's part of why Vredestein gets fit as original equipment on a number of machines. You get good stability and a large contact patch, which means less rutting and less soil compaction on soft ground.
This is a rib tire, not a knobby, so it's built for tracking and flotation rather than aggressive off-road bite. It mounts on an 8-inch rim. Check your current size and ply rating before you order. If you're running a 2, 4, or 6 ply now, this 6-ply works as a replacement. Made in China.

Great Improvement steering my JD140 with Lots of weight on the front
I purchased a set of 170/60-8 (16X6.50-8) 6P Vredestein V61 5-Rib Deep Tires and Tubes from Greater Cleveland Tire for my 1973 John Deere 140 H3 because front end steering WAS just too heavy. I run a belly blade and front blade to push dirt in summer. THESE tires can be inflated to 28 psi and the 6 ply could be run nearly flat for mowing (not recommended but noted when they stay round at very low pressures!) Standard pressure on REGULAR turf tires is only 14psi Max (Not These!) and the load rating on these is at least double. These fit the stock JD140 rims (and many other small tractors, and I'm told mowers) nearly perfect, but I purchased a "small tire changer" from the local/online retailer to install them (an absolute requirement as these are very tough tires). If you want to run a lot of weight on the front of your tractor and still be able to steer, these are a great improvement (essentially the wide track "floats" on top of things and does not sink in, oh and looks pretty cool as well) and appear to not damage the lawn any more than a standard turf tire. Tim the Toolman Taylor would be Proud to own these- name brand, appearance, fit, practical use.
